Join us on a day expedition to see wild kangaroos and pelicans not far from Sydney in the comfort of one of our private tours.
Everyone knows that kangaroos are enthralling with their amazing uniqueness (pouches, hopping, life cycle, etc). However, what you may not know, is that our beautiful pelicans can also amaze. Additionally, these beautiful creatures of the air and sea have some secrets themselves. We can trace their family back 30 million years? …and of course everyone knows the limerick.
“A wonderful bird is the pelican.
His beak can hold more than his belly can.
He can hold in his beak enough food for a week.
But I’ll be damned if I can see how the hell ‘e can.”
Pelican Experience
Pelicans are found all around Australia. These beautiful majestic black and white birds inhabit fresh and salt water lakes and estuaries, rivers, swamps and seashores. We convey our guests to a place well known for having large numbers of these beautiful birds. Furthermore, in Sydney and The Central Coast, we often see them atop electric lamp posts. With a wingspan of up to 2.5 metres and a beak big enough to scoop up large fish (and even small dogs), they are impressive birds.. Moreover, The Entrance, a beautiful coastal town with a large sand bar, is home to one of the world’s largest colonies of pelicans. Here flocks of people join groups of pelicans. On weekends, volunteers examine the majestic birds for fishing hooks that lie in their stomachs, wings and other parts of their body whilst we learn about the wild pelicans.
See these huge birds up close and personal and get to understand their true beauty and size! The hardworking volunteers from Marine Wildlife Rescue will share their valuable knowledge on all things pelicans
Walking with Urban Kangaroos
At another coastal town, we see urban kangaroos wandering around. This township is shared by humans and wild kangaroos alike. Sometimes we see these urban big foots leaping down the otherwise sleepy street. Whilst you may not be able to see kangaroos jumping down Pitt St, we often see them here in people’s gardens. Moreover, we see them grazing on the local sports field and parklands. Depending on the time of year, we may see a joey poke its head out of its mother’s pouch. Undeniably, they are fascinating and mesmerising to watch. Also, you will learn about the fascinating lives of these amazing animals.
In addition to seeing sometimes scores of kangaroos, we often see some of Australia’s beautiful native bird life such as the beautiful rainbow lorikeets, galahs, cockatoos and kookaburras. This is a unique experience.
